qSkills™ Security Summit: Security with Measure and Purpose

News 2012

Nürnberg, 11th September 2012. qSkills™, the independent IT training provider, invites you to the 5th Security Summit in Nuremberg this autumn. On the occasion of the Decision Makers Forum (October 15th, Süd-West-Park 65), renowned experts from business and academia will provide insights into dealing with modern and forward-looking security and risk management solutions. The range of topics includes global security and world economic situation, natural disasters, norms and standards, information security, mobile device strategies, and social engineering to targeted risk management – in theory and practice.

Today, organizations and their decision-makers are no longer debating whether IT security is necessary. Instead, they are faced with a plethora of solutions, services, and strategies to choose from. This means: Where are the guiding principles for a sustainable security and risk concept? Or as Kurt-Jürgen Jacobs, Managing Director of qSkills™ GmbH & Co. KG, puts it: "Too much security is uneconomical. Too little is negligent. Organizations need to find the right balance."

Experts as Navigators
Raising awareness about well-thought-out security and risk management strategies is crucial. The importance of this is highlighted in a recent study of the annual reports of DAX-30 companies by consulting firm A.T. Kearney. According to their analysis, many lack comprehensive and holistic IT security concepts. Recognizing that this poses an unintentional invitation with lucrative loot for hackers and data thieves (the German Federal Ministry of the Interior estimates annual damage at around 50 billion euros due to industrial espionage for German companies) doesn't require a specialist. Experts are essential to establish sustainable security concepts within an entire organization and to provide them with forward-thinking structures. Especially in the context of new challenges such as mobile security or dealing with social networks and their dangers, well-founded knowledge holds high value. This is conveyed by renowned experts from business and academia at the one-day qSkills™ Security Summit. Examples include the global economic and financial crisis as well as increased risks from natural disasters. Other topics include cyber and corporate security, the social engineering factor, or the trending topic of cloud computing, as well as risk management and standards. "With the 5th Security Summit, we have once again created an exciting event with interesting and diverse topics from practitioners for practitioners, who serve as navigators," says Kurt-Jürgen Jacobs.
