qSkills™ with Week of IT Security

News 2011

Nuremberg, 8. September 2011. The independent IT training provider qSkills™ launches the Week of IT Security in Nuremberg on October 10, 2011. The fourth qSkills™ Security Summit, a D-A-CH-wide top decision-makers forum with renowned representatives from various organizations, will kick off the event. From October 11 to 13, qSkills™ will showcase its training expertise and offer introductory training sessions at the Security trade fair it-sa (Hall 12, Booth 452), Nuremberg Exhibition Center. The key themes of both events hosted by qSkills™ are Information Security, Risk Management, and Compliance.

The numbers are clear and speak for themselves. According to the study "Data Theft: New Challenges for German Companies" by the consulting firm Ernst & Young in April 2011, two-thirds of the 400 surveyed executives anticipate an increase in threats to their own companies. The survey reveals the most popular espionage targets, led by Sales at 22 percent, followed by Research and Development at 17 percent, and Human Resources and Finance departments each at 13 percent.

For Frank Romeike, managing partner of RiskNET GmbH and moderator of the qSkills™ Security Summit, espionage affects large corporations and medium-sized companies alike. In a globalized world without isolated markets, companies of all sizes are vulnerable to economic espionage. However, smaller companies often lack the experience, personnel, and resources to address espionage threats. Many companies approach the issue incredibly naively and with blind optimism.

Consequently, this realization demands a more proactive search for individual and advanced security and risk management solutions within organizations.
