CL400: Cloud-native Software Development
Training: Cloud
Architects, developers, and DevOps engineers receive a practical introduction to cloud-native software development. The course covers frameworks such as Spring Boot, Go, Python, and Node.js, as well as containerization and deployment on Kubernetes with Helm. The training is complemented by Infrastructure as Code with Terraform, CI/CD pipelines with Tekton and Argo CD, as well as monitoring with Prometheus and Grafana.

Description:
The workshop CL400 Cloud-native Software Development uniquely summarizes what you need to know as an architect, developer or DevOps engineer about this pioneering method for developing scalable and secure software solutions.Cloud-native applications are currently state-of-the-art for developing applications in private cloud or public cloud. They are scalable, have enhanced security and their elasticity is aligned to the dynamic usage of cloud resources.
Cloud-native applications are typically developed in agile contexts where concepts like DevOps, GitOps or Platform Engineering are practiced. The applications are often developed based on frameworks and programming languages like Spring Boot, Go, Python or Node.js and deployed as containers.
Infrastructure is required to deploy them in the cloud. Terraform, as an infrastructure-as-code solution, offers a suitable approach for provisioning this infrastructure. Many applications run on Kubernetes, which should also be able to be operated by DevOps teams. To deploy applications on Kubernetes, they should be packaged. The framework Helm offers a solution here.
A CI/CD pipeline is required to enable automated building and deployment of the application. This is possible with the building blocks Tekton and Argo CD. Prometheus and Grafana help with monitoring in operations.
