Objectives:

After completing the OD200 OpenTalk Administration training, participants are able to independently plan and deploy OpenTalk environments, operate them securely, and systematically analyze and resolve incidents that arise.

Target audience:

The OD200 OpenTalk Administration course is intended for:
  • System administrators
  • DevOps engineers
  • IT architects as well as technical project leads who want to deploy, operate, or further develop OpenTalk in their organization.
IT security managers and technical consultants who are involved in planning, integration, or operations will also benefit.

Prerequisites:

For participation in the course OD200 OpenTalk Administration you should meet the following prerequisites:

  • Basic knowledge in Linux system administration
  • Container technologies (especially Docker and Docker Compose)
  • Network technology (TCP/IP, ports, firewalls, NAT)
  • as well as a basic understanding of authentication and directory services (e.g. LDAP or other IDM systems)
  • Experience in operating distributed systems as well as in monitoring and troubleshooting of server applications are advantageous

Description:

The training OD200 OpenTalk Administration provides comprehensive technical and conceptual knowledge for professional administration of OpenTalk. Participants acquire both in-depth understanding of the system architecture and hands-on competencies for deployment, operations, security hardening, and troubleshooting in production environments.

Initially, participants receive a solid introduction to OpenTalk. Besides functional classification of the platform, core features, typical use cases, and fundamental operating models are presented. Special focus is placed on capacity planning to design installations according to requirements and scalability. Furthermore, release strategies and structured version management are covered to ensure long-term stability, security, and future-proofing of the environment.

In the architecture section, the technical structure of OpenTalk is analyzed in detail. Individual components and their functions are systematically explained. Communication flows within the platform are presented comprehensibly, making dependencies and interactions clearly understandable. Additionally, practical network design is discussed – including relevant ports, security aspects, and integration scenarios into existing IT infrastructures.

Another focus area is single-node deployment using Docker Compose. Participants learn how to set up, configure, and operate an OpenTalk instance in a structured, production-ready manner. Differences between single-node installations and distributed system landscapes are elaborated, as well as concepts for high availability and configuration management. The objective is to establish a solid foundation for stable and reproducible deployments.

In the configuration and operations section, both centralized and decentralized parameters are examined. Security-relevant settings are explained in a hands-on manner to ensure secure operations in enterprise environments. Furthermore, integration scenarios such as SIP connectivity and integration with identity management systems are covered. Operations in NAT environments are addressed as well as strategies for load balancing, monitoring, and observability. Another important component is media transmission – including underlying technical mechanisms and optimization approaches.

Finally, the training focuses on troubleshooting. Participants learn structured methods for error isolation and analysis. Concepts for redundancy, failover mechanisms, and recovery strategies are taught in a practice-oriented manner. Additionally, disaster recovery planning and resilient operational strategies are covered to maintain operational capability even in critical situations.
