Objectives:

After completing the OD200 OpenTalk - Administration training, participants are able to independently plan and deploy OpenTalk environments, operate them securely, and systematically analyze and resolve incidents that arise.

Target audience:

The OD200 OpenTalk - Administration course is intended for:
  • System administrators
  • DevOps engineers
  • IT architects as well as technical project leads who want to deploy, operate, or further develop OpenTalk in their organization.
IT security managers and technical consultants who are involved in planning, integration, or operations will also benefit.

Prerequisites:

To participate in the OD200 OpenTalk - Administration course, you should meet the following prerequisites:
  • Basic knowledge of Linux system administration
  • Container technologies (in particular Docker and Docker Compose),
  • Networking (TCP/IP, ports, firewalls, NAT)
as well as a basic understanding of authentication and directory services (e.g., LDAP or other IDM systems).
  • Experience in operating distributed systems as well as in monitoring and troubleshooting server applications is an advantage.

Description:

This three-day OD200 OpenTalk - Administration training provides comprehensive technical and conceptual knowledge for the professional administration of OpenTalk. Participants acquire both an in-depth understanding of the system architecture and hands-on skills for deployment, operation, securing, and troubleshooting in productive environments.

At the beginning, participants receive a well-founded introduction to OpenTalk. Alongside a functional classification of the platform, key performance features, typical use cases, and fundamental operating models are presented. A particular focus is placed on capacity planning to design installations in a demand-oriented and scalable manner. In addition, release strategies and structured version maintenance are covered to ensure the stability, security, and long-term viability of the environment.

In the architecture section, the technical structure of OpenTalk is analyzed in detail. The individual components and their tasks are explained systematically. Communication flows within the platform are presented in a comprehensible manner so that dependencies and interactions are clearly understandable. In addition, a practical network design is discussed – including relevant ports, security aspects, and integration scenarios into existing IT infrastructures.

Another focus is on single-node deployment using Docker Compose. Participants learn how an OpenTalk instance is set up in a structured way, configured, and operated in a production-like manner. Differences between single-node installations and distributed system landscapes are elaborated, as well as concepts for high availability and configuration management. The goal is to create a solid foundation for stable and reproducible deployments.

In the configuration and operations section, both central and decentralized parameters are considered. Security-relevant settings are explained in a hands-on manner to ensure secure operation in enterprise environments. In addition, integration scenarios such as SIP connectivity and integration with identity management systems are covered. Operation in NAT environments is addressed as well as strategies for load distribution, monitoring, and observability. Another important component is media transmission – including the underlying technical mechanisms and optimization approaches.

Finally, the OD200 OpenTalk - Administration training is dedicated to troubleshooting. Participants learn structured methods for fault isolation and analysis. Concepts for redundancy, failover mechanisms, and recovery strategies are taught in a practice-oriented manner. In addition, emergency planning and resilient operating strategies are covered to remain capable of acting even in critical situations.
